Cattleya Quinquecolor x Cattleya Memoria Robert Strait ‚Blue Hawaii‘
My first Cattleya hybrid.
Pollinated in May 2017 and the capsule sent to the lab for green sowing five
months later, I received 10 bottles back at the end of 2018. I sold a few bottles
to a nursery in Korea.
The climate here is not exactly ideal for growing Cattleya seedlings and I had no
experience, so the failure rate was high. While the Korean nursery was able to
show the first flowering plants just two and a half years later, I had to wait almost
five years for the first flower. A tribute to the hot climate.
I named this hybrid after my mother.
